Local mums have been involved from the start of setting up the Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin Maternity Voices working with Telford & Wrekin Clinical Commissioning Group, Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group, Telford & Wrekin Healthwatch and Shropshire Healthwatch. It was their idea to invite mums, dads, grandparents, parents-to-be and carers across Shropshire to attend the first meeting of the Maternity Voices held in Shrewsbury on 26th February 2018.
Attendees were welcomed by Fiona Ellis Programme Manager – Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin Local Maternity System Transformation and given an overview of Better Births and a summary of our Local Maternity System. Mum, Heidi Wroe talked about what maternity voice partnership were and how they helped to develop local maternity services.
The event was then handed over to the attendees which included mums, midwives, consultants, health and social care professionals to talk about how our Maternity Voices Partnership would look, how we get to that vision and what those steps could look like. The following feedback was collated from the event.
The morning ended with a chance to grab some lunch and talk to other mums or health professionals.
