Patients in Telford and Wrekin urged to join 'Our NHS' and have their say on healthcare in the region

Leading doctors in Telford and Wrekin are calling on patients and local people to join a new scheme to ensure they have a voice in the way local healthcare services are delivered.

Telford and Wrekin Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) - the fundholding organisation charged with buying in healthcare services for the region - have launched the ‘Our NHS’ membership scheme as part of their continued commitment to putting patients at the frontline of decisions about local care.

The scheme is led by members of the CCG’s Health Roundtable – a network formed in 2012 representing around 20 different local organisations supporting patients or with a concern in health matters to provide the CCG with public feedback – and is open to everyone registered with a GP in Telford and Wrekin.

CCG Chair Dr Michael Innes said:

We want to hear from as many people as possible to ensure when we make important decisions about healthcare services we are informed about what local people want and need from their health services.

Our NHS is the perfect opportunity for people in Telford and Wrekin to get involved with the work we do, to keep informed about developments in local healthcare services and to ensure their voice is heard and they are contributing to changing care in the area for the better.

Roundtable member Shirley Vaughan said: “I would highly recommended people in the area take the opportunity to sign up for Our NHS.

“It’s a really useful scheme for anyone who has an interest in healthcare in Telford and Wrekin and how decisions are made about the services that are commissioned in the area.”

Members of Our NHS will receive regular information from the CCG and have the chance to take part in consultations and activities that make a real difference to the way care is delivered in the area, as well as see the feedback from those consultations to see their views are actively contributing to the decision-making process.
